No Justice, No Peace

Significant reduction of police budgets with the subsequent reallocation of funds towards community services that can address social issues more effectively. This seeks not only to reform but to transform the approach to public safety by addressing structural inequalities and redistributing power towards the community, with the goal of eventually rendering policing as it currently exists obsolete​.

Require all municipalities to establish independent Community Control Boards with the power to make binding decisions on police department policies, personnel, and budget allocations. These boards would be composed entirely of civilians elected by community members. Their jurisdiction would encompass the power to hire, fire, and discipline officers; set departmental policies; oversee and direct budget allocations; and review incidents of use-of-force.

Legislate for the immediate release of all non-violent, parole-eligible, and at-risk inmates. Abolish the for-profit prison industry and invest in programs that facilitate the reentry of formerly incarcerated individuals into society, including job training and housing support. Restore full voting rights to all former and currently incarcerated individuals.
