Our Story

I was born in Boyle Heights, Los Angeles, and raised in a Mexican-American working-class family. I was raised with strong working-class values instilled in me by my parents, who made countless sacrifices to provide opportunities for our family.

Growing up in Los Angeles, I witnessed the stark contrast between immense wealth and extreme poverty just blocks away from each other. Despite the United States being the wealthiest country globally, it was disheartening to see poverty and homelessness persist in one of the richest cities in the world. This disparity exists due to the choices made by a government that prioritizes the rich over the working class. This is why I am proud to announce run for congress as I am determined to organize and advocate for a country made by and ran by workers.

California’s 34th Congressional District is a diverse community in Los Angeles, consisting of Boyle Heights, Chinatown, City Terrace, Cypress Park, Downtown Los Angeles, Eagle Rock, El Sereno, Glassell Park, Highland Park, Koreatown, Little Tokyo, Lincoln Heights, Pico Union, and Westlake.

The Peace and Freedom Party

I joined the Peace and Freedom Party because what is missing in our fight is a true working-class political party. The two-party system cannot and will not effectively address the needs of working-class families. Therefore, I have worked to build a party for and by working people.

As an organizer with the Peace and Freedom Party, I have fought alongside oppressed and working people across the county — from supporting public schools against encroaching charters to standing against the actions of the LAPD and LASD. Additionally, I have marched alongside other tenants for rent control and advocated for human rights for the undocumented and the people of Palestine. I know what it takes to challenge a system that is set up against the working class.

These neighborhoods are comprised of working class families from many different backgrounds. We all want decent housing, quality education, good paying jobs and the ability to build a better society for the next generation. It is imperative we build a political party that represents these interests.
